Sweet Talker

We had a great week, at home mostly! I had a fun late night out with mommy friends on Thursday, and A had her first swimming lesson on Friday morning. She liked her teacher, and did a great job, especially at back floating. We left for Green Bay after Book Buddies on Friday, and got into the campground we had hoped to (they don't take reservations). Mike's team faced some pretty stiff competition at his fastball tournament, and we spent most of our time at our campsite. I forgot how loud campgrounds can be until 10 pm, and I know for sure my thoughts of a great camping experience don't include remote control monster trucks, but some of our camping neighbors' visions of a perfect camping weekend did!

Mike was at the ballfield for two late games (7:30 and 9:30, and they were running late), so I stayed at the camper with the kids. I foolishly expected the kids to fall fast asleep, and when B was giving me some resistance, I decided to lie down beside him, and be silent. After a few minutes of silence, Bennett turned to me, put his hand on my neck, and said, "I love your haircut. You're gorgeous!" How do I stay quiet after that?! Annalise, Bennett, and I had a good laugh, then I tried to get them settled again. After a few more minutes, he pipes up again- "Mom, you are my sunshine!" I don't know where he gets his lines, but watch out Class of 2024! I put the kids' tennies on over their footsie pajamas, and we went out to watch the cars race on the road, and burn some sticks we gathered around the site. We finally got back into bed, and both kids were sleeping by about quarter to 10. We had a great experience with the camper, and I'm impressed with how roomy it feels when we're all inside.

I've been going to some great prenatal yoga classes at Blooma, a nearby yoga studio, and we went again yesterday. The kids love playing in the childcare room. We have a few playdates scheduled this week, but other than that, the only other thing going is my 20 week ultrasound! Woo hoo! I can't believe we're here already. We're for sure not going to find out the gender of #3.

Have a great week! Enjoy the sunshine!

c·nid·o·pho·bi·a -- n. 1. The fear of insect stings.

We had flashbacks to last May, where a severe reaction to an unknown insect bite landed Annalise into Childrens' Hospital for IV antibiotics. She complained Sunday noon about two mosquito-looking bites on her arm. They were white and raised in the center, with a pinkish ring around them. After several hours, they were starting to look angry and getting warm, and definitely more red, especially one of them. We gave her some Benadryl, and she had also been taking her seasonal prophylactic Zyrtec prescribed by the allergist, for about a week already. By Monday morning, the bite on her upper arm was tender and the redness had spread pretty impressively, so off to urgent care we went, since we couldn't get in to see her regular pediatrician. Oral antibiotics were prescribed (we saw a PA-C!), and we were instructed to spray Annalise with bug spray whenever she goes outside. If the redness had spread any further, she would have been admitted again for IV Ab, but thankfully the Keflex nipped it in the bud.

Summer Break

Little Flowers is officially out for the summer! I am hoping to post a video clip from A's Spring program, which they had at school on Wednesday. The kids practiced so hard for it, and did a wonderful job! They sang Celebrate Good Times by Kool and the Gang; Hot, Hot, Hot (Ole, Ole), and The Banana Song (Day-o). I was so proud of A to stand up in front of an audience. We were pretty surprised that she did it (if anyone else remembers her graduation from 2 year old Play Pals, you'll note she's come a long way from lying on the floor and complaining that her feet hurt!)

Annalise's Last Day of School, 2008
Annalise had a nice last day of school on Friday, and got to stay and eat lunch with her classmates- she really was excited about that. We had a nice weekend at home (no softball for quite a few weeks!), and I brought the kids down to G and G's on Sunday, and Mike had a nice block of time where he got to work on the trim boards. We went to the zoo on Monday with Annalise's good friend from school, Alma, and her mom, and we all came home worn out!
Annalise's First Day of School, September 2007

I went to Sex and the City with Danielle last night, and really enjoyed it. Today I had a pretty successful stay at home day, and really impressed my husband with the general clean state of the house, the emptiness of the dishwasher, and dinner in the oven! Woo hoo! I don't know if I can do it two days in a row though...
