Laidback Katie

I am a new woman! After having a very difficult, frustrating, tense, and anxious beginning of the week, I am now back to enjoying the here and now, and not thinking about when this baby will come. My days have been filled with non-stress tests, midwife appointments, and ultrasound, as well as walking the stairs, power walking to and from the clinic from the remote parking lot, and having insomnia-filled nights. We're going over to Bridget and Steve's tonight for pizza, and the cousins are pretty excited to play together. Beyond that, we have no plans for the weekend. We gave away our gopher football tickets for Saturday.

I'll be in touch.....sometime soon. Keep us in your prayers.

Productive Weekend

Madeline and The Wizard had a fun time at the Pumpkin Party on Saturday morning. The bunk bed finally came in, and I picked it up on Saturday afternoon. We then stopped by Blooma's first birthday party, and then on to dinner at the Convention Grill. Saturday night was spent assembling the bunk beds, so Madeline could sleep in her new bed that night (I don't know where the other eleven slept, but I'm sure it was in two straight lines)!

Baby Update

I had an appointment with the midwife on Friday, during which she detected an irregular heartbeat with the Doppler. I had a NST (non-stress test) where we listened to a longer segment of baby's heartbeat, and the midwife was pleased with it. I'm measuring right on, and everything else is looking good. Today we went for an ultrasound, where they were specifically looking for any structural abnormalities in the heart. Baby had several PACs (premature atrial contractions) [which are very common, and usually resolve on their own], but the cardiac chambers and vessels all looked normal. I then had another NST, and the radiologist wants me to have another on Friday (and weekly until baby is born). One really cool thing the sonographer pointed out was that #3 has hair. I could have told you that with the intensity of my heartburn, but nice to be validated.

Loving Siblings

Here is one of the first pictures I took with our new digital SLR! I'm going to have to figure it out quickly, so #3 doesn't complain as a teenager that "it's so unfair- all (4) of my baby pictures are blurry!" The title of today's post alludes to the fun we've been having recently with A and B's communication difficulties. Apparently it's only around me though, since Grandpa and Grandma took the kids swimming yesterday (MEA break), and they had a wonderful fight-free, whine-free time.

Tuesday

Here is my 37 week belly. It has definitely dropped since this picture was taken. I had a rough night last night, thinking that "this is it" and ready to call my parents over to watch the kids. Then nothing ended up happening. I've got to get out of my head. How do you stop thinking????? I've never been good at that.

We had a nice day at home yesterday, Mike was home for Columbus Day! I had a nice yoga class in the morning, and Mike got the cords of our entertainment center wrangled last evening. Bennett and I had lunch over at Danielle and Henry's today- thanks, D, it is so nice to have someone cook for us. Tonight is my last night volunteering at Blooma for who knows how long.
The kids carved pumpkins on Sunday. We left the mommy and daddy pumpkins to carve for closer to Halloween, but Annalise just couldn't wait to get her's carved. Posted by Picasa

The Votes are In!

The poll stated that you, my loyal readers, think we're going to have a boy. However, Mike had a dream last night that we had a girl, so that trumps all of you! He also dreamt that I immediately wanted to go on vacation after giving birth- does he know me, or what?

Oh, BTW, I made it to weekly appointments!

We'll see if I actually make it to my first weekly appointment, scheduled for Friday the 17th. I'm pretty excited to even have made it to the scheduling of weeklies!
